Let's Talk Bloomington is a city website where information on various projects is posted, including comprehensive planning and budget planning. Project pages often contain design drawings, events, project contacts, and opportunities for input like surveys and interactive maps.
Every resident is represented by the Mayor, two at-large councilmembers, and one district councilmember. The easiest way to find your city council member and their contact information is through the city's website. You can also include the council secretary in your correspondence.
To contact city staff, it is best to start with listed project staff, if available. Otherwise, points of contact include the Engineering Division, Planning Division, and City Engineer Julie Long.
The Sun Current newspaper is widely read by Bloomington residents, including city staff and city council members. You can help raise awareness about our initiatives by submitting a letter to the editor.
The Bloomington City Council holds listening sessions two or three times per month prior to their regular meetings, from 5:45 PM to 6:15 PM. Residents can sign up to speak for five minutes during these sessions on topics that do not have a public hearing on that evening's agenda.
The City Council (and Planning Commission) also hear various matters related to transportation and land use, some of which have public hearings, where residents may provide testimony. On the city's website, you can find city council agendas, links to watch past and upcoming meetings, and dates of upcoming meetings and listening sessions.
